Technical Requirements

The True Blend™ Media Player System (MPS) is only licensed as part of the Music MegaBase™ Catalog (MMBC) Media Edition.  MPS and MMBC are powered by Microsoft®  Access™ and a "runtime" version of Access™ is included with the software distribution package.

License restrictions apply.  The MMBC is available in the U.S.A. only.

Scroll down for hardware or software requirements and see Microsoft®  Access™ compatibility below.

See miscellaneous notes and recommendations, including information about supported audio file formats.  Review scenario notes for software and hardware configuration test results.

Hardware Considerations

Platform—Windows® personal computer such as a laptop, tablet, desktop, Ultrabook or Netbook  (See Mac option here)

Minimums—Processor: 1 GHz, System Memory: 1 GB, Video Display: 1024x768 (but 1024x600 accommodated for MPS operation), Video Memory: 64MB, Sound: standard 2-channel sound card circuit, Input: keyboard and pointing device (external controllers are supported—see notes below).

Recommended—DUAL CORE CPU capable of 1 GHz or greater.  For example, Codentity has evaluated the MMBC with True Blend™ MPS and the Codentity® EFX Player on Windows® 8.1 tablets configured with the Intel quad-core Bay Trail processors—and found excellent compatibility at 16:10 resolutions of 1280x800.

Recommended—System RAM of 2 GB—however, adequate performance with 1 GB of system RAM has been tested and proven effective.  (This test was performed on a Winbook® 7" tablet configured with Windows® 8.1 and 1 GB system RAM, and built with an Intel quad-core Atom / Bay Trail processor.)

Recommended—Video display resolution of 1280x800, 1360x768, 1366x768, OR 1280x1024 with 1 GB video memory or better; the MMBC / MPS interface has been designed to be naturally compatible with the following screen resolutions:  1280x800 (16:10); 1360x768, 1366x768, and 1920x1080 at an aspect ratio of 16:9 (widescreen); 1280x1024 and 1024x768 at an aspect ratio of 4:3 (standard).

Recommended—Storage of media files on a drive other than drive C—such as a drive D partition, a second physical drive (labeled D or greater), or on removable flash media.  Plan to create a master music folder structure  (i.e., sound file assets) on a flash drive labeled D, or E, or F, G, H, and so on.

For example:  Create and maintain your sound file assets folder structure on a removable flash media such as a USB stick or Micro SD object.  How?  First, organize your sound file assets in logical folders on your removable media.  Then, on the Media Assets tab of the AEMR form, click the Insert PAF Link button.  Use the search tools to quickly locate each desired song file, and connect it with its corresponding Music MegaBase™ Catalog (i.e., database) record by inserting a hyperlink.  Repeat for each target track (i.e., song file).  With your sound assets on a removable drive, you can then use the media in any activated copy of your MMBC with True Blend™ and the Codentity® EFX Player.

Recommended—Bluetooth 4.0 device capability for wireless configuration as a remote enabled touch interface for the True Blend™ Media Player System (MPS) and the Codentity® EFX Player.

For example: Using a tablet-sized display with Bluetooth ON and connected to a Bluetooth receiving device (such as the Amazon®Basics Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver), DJs or audio operators can be up to 30-feet away from the sound console and have complete TAP-TOUCH control of the True Blend™ and EFX players.  Of course, interface navigation and song selection is made much eaiser if the new TAP-TOUCH capabilities are activated.  One-click / tap turns them on in the UDS Manager, or from the AC Home page.

NEW:  Special TAP-TOUCH interface navigation and visual enhancements (like larger buttons and fonts) have been added for compact display users.  This benefits configurations including Windows® 10 / 8.1 tablets with 10", 8" or 7" screens; PCs with 11.6" screens, and Netbooks with 1024x600 resolution.  Users with compact displays can easily invoke realignment of control objects in the True Blend™ player console, and the Codentity® EFX Player, by activating the Resize For NR (Netbook resolution) and the Use Compact Display Options commands.  See the MMBC FAQ hardware question for specific designations.

For example: On small tablet displays, use the Jump Search command.  Tapping Jump Search will dropdown the search category combo box and place focus (i.e., selection) on the first "record" (i.e., song title) in the summary list.  Subsequently, each double-tap of the search box label will advance (user-choice of either 1 or 5 records) in the list, and keep the box dropped down.  Jump Search also increases font size in the combo box.  Together, these refinements make it much easier to perform tap-touch selections on compact displays.

Recommended—Windows®-compatible controller  (Consider using if Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity is not present on your computing device.  See notes in the About External Controllers topic below)

See Computer Lab Case Notes for software and hardware configuration test results.

ABOUT EXTERNAL CONTROLLERS:  Almost any Windows®-compatible controller that supports "programmable" buttons and triggers will work with the True Blend™ Media Player System (MPS).  (This information applies to Windows® XP users only.  Codentity has not tested this method of external controller support for Windows® 7, Windows® 8 / 8.1, or Windows® 10.  However, Codentity has tested, and fully supports, the use of Bluetooth® keyboard controllers with Windows® 8.1)

ATTENTION DJS who like the tactile feel of a definitive click when sending a command to the software:  Codentity has tested the Logitech KB-810 illuminated Bluetooth® keyboard with our software on devices running Windows® 8.1.  This keyboard is compact and light, and it provides a great remote-control option for your True Blend™ automation system and / or the Codentity® EFX Player.

Software Considerations

Required—Windows® 10 (64-bit), Windows® 8.1 / 8 (64-bit or 32-bit), Windows® 7 (64-bit or 32-bit), or Windows® XP (32-bit only) operating system from Microsoft®  (Note: Windows® 10 / 8.1 / 8 are supported because they have been tested and found to be fully-compatible; see Lab Case 6.)

Mac Option—Codentity will not officially support Apple® computing devices, but be advised that Codentity has successfully tested the Music MegaBase™ Catalog Media Edition—with its True Blend™ Media Player System—on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro; it was configured with Windows® 7 Professional 64-bit running under Boot Camp

Required—Compatible version of Microsoft® Access™ as the shell program (MSACCESS.EXE) that powers the Music MegaBase™ Catalog (MMBC) with its True Blend™ Media Player System (MPS) and the optional MMBC Series products

GET ACCESS™ 2002 (XP) RUNTIME FREE via download from Music MegaBase™ Catalog publisher Codentity® LLC

For best performance under Windows® XP, Windows® 7, Windows® 8 /8.1, or Windows® 10, Codentity recommends installing the 32-bit Access™ 2002 (XP) RUNTIME files which Codentity provides at no extra cost to licensed users of Music MegaBase™ Catalog Media Edition (which includes the True Blend™ MPS)

The 32-bit Access™ 2002 (XP) runtime is compatible with 64-bit Windows® 10, 64-bit Windows® 8 and  64-bit Windows® 7 systems (See Lab Lab Case 5 notes below for information concerning Windows® 8, and Lab Case 6 [also Lab Cases 7, 8 and 9] for testing information on Windows ® 8.1)

Optionally—Pre-existing installations of Access™ 2003 will also work, however testing across multiple installations of Windows® XP and Windows® 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 has shown that the best speed and graphics experience will be achieved with the Access™ 2002 (XP) runtime files supplied by Codentity

IMORTANT: MMBC software is designed for use with 32-bit versions of Access.  (Read Computer Lab Case Notes or view the compatibility table below.)

Access™ 2007 / 2010 / 2013 are now supported; however for best performance, Codentity highly recommends using the FREE 32-bit Access™ 2002 runtime files furnioshed in the distribution package (also know as the "core bundle"); earlier versions of Access™ are not supported by Codentity

Required—ActiveX® Windows Media® player series 9 object(s) supplied at no extra cost with the Microsoft®  Windows® XP / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 operating system of choice.  See supported file format notes below.  The Windows Media® objects are not owned by Codentity LLC

Required—Assorted ActiveX® object(s) from FMS inc. which are supplied FREE under license by Codentity and installed with the MMBC distribution files.  The FMS objects are not owned by Codentity LLC

Required—Codentity® Music MegaBase™ program file (*.mde) which is FREE to try, and requires a FEE to activate a RETAIL license; the Music MegaBase™ program file is provided as a Microsoft®  Access™ database file; special Microsoft®  Access™ database security file (*.mdw); plus various supplementary files

Recommended—Digital media files of your choice purchased from licensed sources (required for use in the True Blend™ MPS)

Compatible Version of Microsoft® Access™ Required

IMPORTANT:   Codentity has tested the Music MegaBase™ Catalog (MMBC) Media Edition with its True Blend™ Media Player System (MPS) on various Windows® XP, Windows® 7, Windows® 8 / 8.1, and Windows® 10 computers.  For best performance, Codentity recommends operating the MMBC and True Blend™ MPS using the Codentity-supplied Microsoft® Access™ XP (2002) RUNTIME files under Windows® XP / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10.  Codentity is licensed to supply FREE Access™ XP (2002) RUNTIME files—without charge to valid licensed users.

Microsoft Corporation, via downloads, also provides a FREE versions of the Access 2010 runtime, and the Access 2007 runtime for use on Windows® 7 computers—however the initial release of the MMBC Media Edition will only permit use with Access™ 2002 (XP) or Access™ 2003.  (See Microsoft notes for specific OS conditions.  At this time, our research indicates that Microsoft no longer supplies the Access 2003 runtime.)

The MMBC interface is designed to be extremely intuitive, and users can control the various aspects of the MMBC through a combination of familiar point and click selections or keyboard commands.  The MMBC also includes built-in context-sensitive HELP.  Database training, and previous experience with Access it NOT necessary.

COMPATIBILITY ALERT:  In order to avoid potential “version conflicts” between various Microsoft® Office "installer" programs and Access™, the compatibility table below provides version recommendations.  Use scenario A, B, or C—that which best describes your configuration.  Scenario C will provide the best performance, and Office 2010 and Office 2013 programs can be added AFTER the Access™ 2002 (XP) 32-bit runtime files are installed.  Additional testing has confirmed that Office 2013 versions of Access™ can also be installed before the Codentity-supplied Access™ 2002 (XP) 32-bit runtime files are installed.  Please follow Access version guidelines and read Computer Lab Case notes above.
